Glamour is back at Dynamos

The Harare giants returned to local action after successfully navigating the first hurdle in their CAF Confederation Cup campaign last week.

They were not entirely dominant but they did enough to merit this victory at Rufaro yesterday.

And there is a feeling the glamour is just creeping back at DeMbare with fans singing “Tenderera Mablanyo” in apparent praise of interim coach Lloyd “Mablanyo” Chigowe.

The lanky gaffer deserves all the praises he is getting after mastering two wins and as many draws in all competitions inside the past four weeks.

He is in temporary charge of the Glamour Boys after he was appointed following the sacking of Genesis Mangombe last month.

And he has turned Dynamos around remarkably well, picking four points in two matches in the league.

While Dynamos failed to stamp authority in yesterday’s match, they were full value for their win.

They even had the luxury of missing a penalty in the first half when captain Frank Makarati’s shot was saved by Tafadzwa Jabangwe.

The miss seemed to boost the visitors’ confidence and Dynamos even survived two huge moments. But a Fred Alick powerful cross six minutes into the second half found its way in and that was enough to earn the giants the points.

“It was a good game of football and I am very happy with the boys’ performance,” said Chigowe.

“Teams always fight hard against Dynamos and we are looking ahead to 11 more gruelling fixtures”.

Chegutu Pirates coach Maxwell Jongwe bemoaned his charges’ lack of a cutting edge.
