Chicken Inn, Herentals share spoils

Victory continues to elude Chicken Inn as they were held to a goalless draw in an uninspiring Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Luveve Stadium on Sunday.

They wasted chances that could have seen them claim victory with Brian Muza failing to connect from the edge of the penalty box in the sixth minute.

Two minutes later, Brighton Makopa sailed his effort of the cross bar with skipper Xolani Ndlovu also culpable in the 24th minute as his shot was cleared by Joseph Chitavira.

Not to be outdone, Herentals' Clemence Zimondi had an opportunity just after the break but shot wide.

Action swung from one end to the other in the second half but the goals would not come.

Ten minutes before full time, defender Lincoln Mangaira received his marching orders from referee Mhaka Magara for rough play on Herentals' substitute Erick Dambo.

Chicken Inn assistant coach Fungai Kwashi was disappointed.

"We dropped points at home. The application was good at times, but I thought we should have killed off the game in the first half. You saw the numerous chances we missed. We are creating so many chances but the conversion rate is poor. It's bad, it's below Premiership standards. Sometimes we should not sugar-coat things but call a spade a spade," Kwashi said.

For Herentals, coach Paul Benza was content with the draw.

"We got a point away from home from a very strong side because winning or drawing against Chicken Inn is not easy, so for us it's a point gained," Benza said.
